Well, I thought you should know.... Myself & a few sailed from kinsale to Padstow for a short break, we dined in Rick Steins Restaurant on fine lobster etc. We stocked up as usual, before leaving Kinsale, with your fine food from the local SuperValue. You see your hot pots really suit sailing, coz you just bung em in the oven for half an hour and hey presto a gourmet meal on deck. We voted your pies superior to the Cornish pasties consumed on the return voyage!!!

British Queens, as I think I stated earlier, my favourite "New" spud are soon going to be out of season and we will be back into the main crop varieties like Roosters: easy to cook and taste good, Kirr Pinks: never know how it is spelt but they taste very good and are good and floury but harder to cook & my favourite: Golden Wonders which are damb fine when boiled if you can stop them exploding but really should be baked in an aga and eaten with masses of butter!!

Yes it's that time of year again, Combines everywhere blocking up the roads so take it easy. But the good news is British Queen New potatoes are in the shops (Cully's Favourite). There is fantastic Irish tomatoes at the farmers markets and of course all the usual summer salad leaves, herbs and vegetables so get a good bottle of olive oil, some nice white wine vinegar and a jar of mustard and start eating loads of really delicious healthy salads. Yumm! you gotta love it.

Fawny... our nutritionist (who last week jammed the campervan under a bridge!!) is making up for the trouble she caused last week by doing a soup tasting in Hurley's SuperValu, Midleton today.

Ivan and I will be doing a cookery Demonstration there this evening at 6pm for about an hour.

The recipes are all about a Light Summer Lunch;

New Season Carrot & Coriander Soup with Spiced Mint Oil & White Soda Bread Scones

Mozzerella, Avocado & Green Salad with a Lemon Balsamic Dressing

Summer Strawberry Fool with Janes Biscuits

We were invited to provide some decent tucker at a serious private party in Stradbally last weekend. 800 people turned up on Saturday night!!

We did pies on slates with Ballymaloe Country Relish and Cucumber pickle. We got in Paddy with his excellent O'Granola to do breakfast.

What a party!!

I was out fishing for Sea Bass last night on the rising tide with Ted, Roops and Laurent (A Swede, A Brit and a French man.) So besides giving Laurent loads of grief over the rugby we also actually caught some fish... Well they did while I just threw weights into the sea; Let's just say it wasn't a good weekend for the Irish!!

We caught about 8 fish, 2 of which were too small so were let go, 4 that we ate there and then on the fire, an unlucky flat fish (Flounder I think) and Ted caught Monster which we're having for dinner tonight.
