BEEF LASAGNE

WITH FRESH PASTA & PARMESAN CHEESE

RED WINE BOLOGNESE AND BECHAMEL BETWEEN FRESH PASTA SHEETS.

DID YOU KNOW? The tomatoes, milk, and mozzarella in lasagne, make it a good source of Vitamin A.

Vitamin A is actually not one vitamin but a collection of nutrients.

Story

The word “lasagna” is derived from the Greek word “lasanon” meaning chamber pot. The word was later borrowed by the Romans as “lasanum” to mean cooking pot. The word lasagna or lasagne (plural) now simply applies to the dish itself. The British (and Italians) generally use “lasagne" while the Americans commonly use the singular “lasagna”.

Serving Suggestion:

CULLY’S TOMATO SALAD: Slice a few really plump ripe tomatoes into rounds in a shallow bowl. Sprinkle salt, pepper and sugar to taste (you’ll need more sugar in the winter), extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar over them. Finally rip up a few basil leaves and allow to fall over the salad and if you’re hungry, fresh mozzarella!

Ingredients:

Chopped Tomatoes (20%), Beef (20%), Milk, Pasta Sheet (12%) (Durum Wheat Semolina, Water, Powdered Egg), Onion, Tomato Puree, Mozzarella (Milk) (3.8%), Passata, Water, Butter (Milk), Red Wine, Carrot, Grana Padano Cheese (1.2%) (Grana Padano Cheese (Milk), Preservative (Egg Lysozyme)), Celery, Cornflour, Olive Oil, Sugar, Salt, Garlic Puree, Vegetable Stock (Water, Vegetables (21%) (Onion, Potato, Leek, Celery), Salt, Yeast Extract, Carrot Concentrate, Sugar, Sunflower Oil, Lemon Juice Concentrate), Beef Stock (Beef, Yeast Extract, Natural Flavouring, Salt, Tomato Paste, Molasses, Lemon Juice Concentrate, Onion Powder), Basil, Parsley, Black Pepper, Ground Nutmeg, Ground Bayleaf.

SULLY’S COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:

For best results we strongly recommend cooking in the oven:

1. Cut film from top of container.
2. Place in a pre-heated oven at 200c (gas mark 6) for approx. 30 minutes.
3. Add garlic bread and nice cheesy Italian music – la dolce vita!

or if you’re in a hurry you can microwave:

1. Cut film from top of container.
2. Heat for approximately 5 minutes at 800w and stand for 1 minute.

We do not recommend freezing but if you do, use within one month. Defrost fully before cooking.
