Although most people would probably not find a pint of stout to be overly romantic, I am yet to find an Irish man who given the choice would not prefer the stout to almost anything else.
All you need is 12 native Irish Oysters, a loaf of really good brown bread, a lemon cut into wedges and of course your stout.
First wash your oysters and open with a shucking knife of stubby short-tipped knife, (you can ask your fish monger to do this for you if you are going to eat them within a couple of hours).
Serve the open oysters on a bed of seaweed or rock salt arranged in a circle with a couple of lemon wedges. Along side have your brown bread and of course your pint of stout. Enjoy.
