I'm doing a project on "My Favourite Brand" for college and I'd love to choose Cully & Sully!! Just wondering if there's anywhere that I can find a history of the company? How it started, why etc?? Please help!
Sorry it's taken a bit of time to get back to you. My computers been in hospital.
A history of C&S is something we don't have and it would be a good idea to do one. There are quite a few profiles on us but I can't find any. I could write for a week solid so below is kind of a brief history.
June 2003 - we both started researching the idea. Cul had just written Local Producers of Good Food in Cork and I had been working in Musgraves Cash and Carry.
Sep 2004 - we launched our range of 6 pies using Ballymaloe recipes and all natural ingredients. No weird ingredients- your granny must know all the ingredients for them to be included in our recipes!
Jan 2005 - we were selected to be included in the Bridgestone Guide awards.
Sep 2005 - we launched our pies into pubs. A brave move and one that saw us drive all over the country like mad men.
Oct 2005 - we won Gold in the Great Taste Awards in the UK.
April 2006 - Ivan, Culs cousin came to work with us. He's great.
June 2006 - we were selected as finalists in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards ( we didn't win, but we competed!)
Oct 2006 - we launched our soups, which have been a great success too. We now have 7 soups.
Nov 2006 - we won the overall Golden Spider awards for our website.
Jan 2007 - Aoife came to work with us. Aoife is our brain and is incredible!!!
Nov 2008- we moved our pie production back from our amazing producers in France to Lusk in County Dublin. We use wind turbines to create the power for the ovens etc.
Nov 2008 - we were the first Irish company to ever win the Global Sial d'Or awards in Paris and Shanghai.
Jan 2009 - Rena and Anne joined our team. They are wonderful and we love them.
Nov 2009 - we launched our range of 4 hot pots. Again all use Irish ingredients and taste yummy.
Nov 2009 - we launched our soups into Monoprix and Carrefour in France.
I didn't know what a brand was really until after we'd set up Cully & Sully. I'm not 100% sure what they are but I hope tasty and good food with no weird ingredients, honesty- we're in charge of what goes into our food, fun (we like to make you smile), we're easily accessible (our mobile numbers are on the website), and I can't think of anything else, but I'm sure that there are other things.
Thank you very much Ylime. Homemade ingredients too!! There is absolutely nothing in our food that you won't find in your kitchen and that you wouldn't add into your own dinners. We don't do weird ingredients!!
Yeah it's nice to know what I'm eating is actually what it says on the box. I remember Mammy Ylime getting a lasagne one year and me being violently ill after it and it was only when we read the ingredients we discovered that there was pork in it which I am allergic to. Learnt our lesson that day to always read the ingredients
Hey im a student and im doing a project on C&S and part of it that i have to write about is the background of the key personnel of C&S such as Cullen Allen & Colum O'Sullivan but cant really find much info about them. So any background info about them would be a great help thanks.
I'm sure we have this info somewhere on the site- but where??????!!!!!! My mum Eleanor and now brother Jack run the Granary Foodstore in Midleton, Cork and that was where I first became interested in food. Mum was always an amazing cook and we were spoilt as kids with food. I then studied food science and business in UCC for 4 years. I also had a lot of interest in agriculture. After UCC I worked in Musgraves cash and carry for 4 years and learnt a huge amount.
Cul comes from Ballymaloe so the guy has been up to his knees in good food since he was tenny wenny. He taught in the cookery school, was author of slow food producers in Cork and many other food things. He studied Fine Art and Sculpture in the Crawford and then set up C&S with me.

Hi!
I'm also doing a college project on your brand.. This is what happens when you're too friendly!!
What do you see as your brand values?
Thanks,
P
Hi there,
Brand values????? Hmmmm!!!

I would say your brand values are affordable convience food with a homemade taste.
Thank you very much Ylime. Homemade ingredients too!! There is absolutely nothing in our food that you won't find in your kitchen and that you wouldn't add into your own dinners. We don't do weird ingredients!!
