I've recently discovered Cully & Sully's products and I've quickly become a fan. The Superior Fish Pie is definitely my favourite, but everything in that range is delicious. I do have an issue with the packaging, though, and that is the double-layer plastic covering on the top of the container.

I don't understand why there are two. You peel one layer off easily, and there is another layer underneath which is a real pain to get rid of completely. There are instructions that mention scissors but they make no sense - no scissors I know can be used completely horizontally to cut off the plastic stuck to the container. Mostly I make a small hole with a knife and then messily pull out as much as possible... but this is the quickest way of doing it that I've found. Even if I've cut most of it off and the remains are just little pieces, I'll bring it out of the oven to find that some of the plastic is now touching the food.

I know the company is not alone in doing this, but surely there must be a better way of dealing with this? It's an annoyance I have to deal with every time I buy Cully & Sully's.

Hi Azhrei, Thanks a million

Hi Azhrei,

Thanks a million for your email and thanks for liking our fish pie. You are right and I totally agree with you and I too absolutely hate this film seal on our pies. It drives me mad and if I could find an alternative I would change it in the morning.

I could write all day, but basically the issue is that the containers we use need to be microwaveable and ovenable so we have to use a special plastic, which will not melt in your oven (we really wouldn't like us if we melted plastic all over your shinny oven). When we seal the container with the film it means that it is not peelable - due to the type of plastic it is.

We used to have ceramic containers and we didn't have this issue. This is something we are looking at presently with the range and I hope, we will sort something out.

I know that the above is not a proper answer and I am sorry but we are very conscious of it and we are going to fix it.

Sully Smile

Thanks for taking the time

Thanks for taking the time to reply! I'm glad I'm not the only person who feels this way about the plastic, and that you're looking into it. However you pack them, they're still delicious, and everyone I know is raving about them. My only other criticism is that they could be a little bigger, I'm always left wanting for just a bit more Wink

Again, thanks for your reply, and for your consideration of the issue, minor one as it is. Must sign off now and pop another Superior Fish Pie in the oven Smile
