I am always giving out over restaurant Reviews. I find few reviewers have any idea about Restaurants or how to run them, and others I will trust withour hesitation. I have no problem with a reviewer giving an honest opinion about their experience but when they start comparing wine prices to those at Tesco I get cross, because obviously Tesco can get a better buying price than your local haunt.
And i am always looking for a new places to eat. So here is your chance to rave about your favorite place for a bowl of Pasta or give out with socks over how much it cost for a simple tossed salad.
Your Restaurant Review

Saturday night we went to Amicus on Paul Street, where the Gingerbread House used to be. We all agreed that the food and service was abysmal. This was my second time here thinking that they might have improved within those months since the last visit-they didn't.
Went to Nutmeg on French Church Street for lunch yesterday, really nice and really good price. It's nice for a Sunday lunch, it's relaxed and pretty simple food.
If you are looking for somewhere to Chillax for lunch, head to Farmgate Cafe in The English Market. This place is fantastic, I mean it is just fantastic. Anytime pals are visiting Cork I bring them here and they are so impressed by it all.
For Dinner, Jacobs on the Mall is very nice. If you love your wine then this is defo your kinda place. In my opinion, the best wine menu around. The staff are a bit too pretentious but hey that's the only complaint I'd have.
For the Dublin folk, Brasserie Sixty6, George's St. If you like your steak then this place is heaven... desserts are yum too. The price is very very reasonable for the high quality food and service. This is without doubt Dublin's best reasonably priced restaurant. Once you've tasted their steak you'll never cook steak for yourself again.
There's one Cork restaurant that's a gem but it deserves a good detailed review someday
found the same with amacus to be honest, they used to have the best fry ever but they did away with it. found nutmeg to be nice alright.
great cheap eats in dublin is also gruel in dame street, very informal and nice, reasonably priced grub
fat jacks out our way is good too .............
Lads and Lassies,
there's a new restaurant in grand canal dock in Dublin called RIVA- it's owned by this really nice German man who used to own Il Primo in town. IT IS EXCELLENT and SO SO SO REASONABLE.
I think its exactly where things are at in Dublin. I ate there again last night and had a wonderful mackeral starter and a super slow cooked lamb main and a gorgeous Valrhona chocolate dessert. Highly recomment it.
how do you stay so thin?????
Hard Work!
I was in Baltimore last weekend and had dinner in Johnny's at the Mews. Fabulous meal. I started with an Asparagus soup which was devine, then had rump steak and Valrhona choc pud to finish. The rump steak was melt in the mouth. Ben is the chef and Johnny front of house. They make a great team. The room is lovely and comfortable.
Then for breakfast the next morning we headed to The Glebe. I had pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. Really good and everything is locally sourced or made. Their home made bread is really good.
All in all I would recommend a trip to Baltimore.
sounds like something to do the next free weekend i get! ... went to cafe paradiso last week for a friend birthday, delicious as usual! ... brought a load of confirmed carnivors who'd never been before because it's a veggie restaurant, with mixed feedback, but hey it's progress!
FOUND - the best restaurant in Ireland- THE HOP HOUSE in Dublin.
It's between Gardener Street and Parnell street. Walk up to the top of O'Connell street and turn left and its down there. Finally i've found somewhere other than Sushi King (which is excellent for lunch) for sushi. The make the most amazing food and TRY their sweet potato noodles- these are my best food discovery this year so far. They are to die for. They're really sweet but with peppers and spcies in a broth they are gorgeous.
Do check it out
This has to be one of the best places in the world to eat!!! Been going there for the last 10 years and what can I say except Yum. However strange it may seem but its signature dish............cornbeef sandwiches, its a must! Also top of the list are the "fishy things". Which I'm told are really amazing.Always good for a Sunday Roast and best of all it seems to be open 24/7.
Oh You also can't go to the Patsy Cafe without sampling the chocolate eclairs and the swiss roll. So if your in Moate its the place to go......
Co. Westmeath is not a place I am in very often, for what ever reason. Galway, Kerry, Cork, Dublin, Belfast, Waterford and Tipp seeem to be where I am most months and sometimes Meath, but rarely Westmeath- that will have to change. Really good to know about this. It's wonderful to know of tasty eateries in places that one only visits every so often- thank you so much.
i aws recently in waterville co kerry and came across an excellent restaurant....i really liked it because it was a little different....it has 2 chef owners one is thai the other is irish so there are quite a unique twist to there menu....i went for the thai option and is was really authentic while others in my party went for the classial option....i thought it was a great idea to mix it up....check it out next time any of you are in that area
If your in Dublin or close by,..I have a 2 suggestions in my town (celbridge) First is Castletown House,..its more a cafe really but the food is beautiful and They do THE BEST SCONES ever! come with fresh cream and a pot of jam,..really big and oh so yum,..if its a fine day you can sit in the walled garden which was the herb garden hundreds of years ago,..the ambience is amazing and its unique in being only 20 mins form Dublin City centre and yet the setting is to tranquil! www.castletownhouse.ie
