HOW YOU CAN HELP | WHO'S INVOLVED

CULLY & SULLY are very lucky to have a successful food business. This was achieved through a lot of hard work from us and a lot of help and advise from our friends, family and colleagues.

Success led Ernst and Young to short list us in their "E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year" awards for 2006. This program aims to identify and promote successful businesses in Ireland.

With that in mind, and with a challenge from John O'Shea from GOAL, last year three businesses were started in Africa and again this year, in Asia.

This year C&S were delighted to be asked to participate and be one of the three companies to set up a viable company in Asia that would assist local people. After much research, we discovered and started a microfinance project in Simikot in Nepal. In April 2007 we went to Simikot and helped the village finance an oil pressing machine. This is the first step in a project we hope will:

  • Help the women in the entire Humla region.
  • Educate the people of Humla to have the confidence to run a small enterprise.
  • Educate the Irish on how they can help the third world using micro-finance.
