Hi to all at Cully+Sully world, lovely site.

What are folks paying for (real) freerange eggs? I mean the ones with real droppings and feathers stuck to them, and inside a rich deep yello yolk as opposed to the watery insepid types. I only ask as i pay .40c per hen egg and think it is ok, but some are a lot dearer. Smile

Congratulations!!! Well

Congratulations!!! Well done. I too found the whole blog/forum thing totally daunting and I drove Shane, our website man deeeeemented about it. I hope it wasn't too hard to use. Do you know I haven't a clue what I pay for nice eggs. We have a deal going with Darren, Culs brother who keeps hundreds of hens. He gets to use our kitesurfing gear and we get eggs. I think in the market they are about €2.50 for a box. I'm not 100% sure though. It's always worth it. Sully Big smile

on a different note, I just came across this

Eggs by the dozen will stay

Shoppers will be allowed to buy eggs by the dozen, or half dozen, politicians at the European Parliament insisted yesterday, after fears Brussels was trying to ban the practice.

Where is the world going? Nice to know BRUSSELS is dealing with important matters!!

I wonder if that is actually

I wonder if that is actually true, a lot of those supposed EU "trying to ban fun" etc rumors were exposed as myths on an episode of QI i saw recently, of course the British press are only to happy to believe them given their often anti-EU stance.

That's interesting. I hadn't heard that. It could be. We love bureaucracy here too - don't we!

The difference in the price

The difference in the price of eggs between differnet shops is scary. Up here, it's about £1.45 in a supermarket for 6 medium (more like small) freeerange eggs. In our local shop, local freerange eggs (medium, but bigger than the supermarket medium) are only £1.10. And better quality.

My job takes me all around the NI countryside, so I often buy eggs from farms. Varies from FREE (pays to be nice!) to £1.50 for 6.

hi all new too this but love it we actually have our own hens we bought a chicken coop and six chickens back in April we were told they were around 20 weeks point to lay and should start laying we build a run around the house and it has taken till now to get at least four eggs a day from them took us a while to get them settled we put down hay as bedding as grass all eaten the run is very smelly but this stopped that we were told to put down bark chipping which we will do i buy a bag of layer pellets for 12 euro which lasts at least a month, first they start to lay we can give them scraps, it is so nice to see your hard work pay off and the eggs are lovely, well worth doing if you have space,

Hey Sharon, Welcome to the

Hey Sharon,

Welcome to the site and thanks for coming! That's really interesting. It does take quite a while but it's so worth the wait. A good trick to play is to buy some chocolate eggs (there's a lady in Limerick making the dottiest chocolate eggs, called Pandora Bell) and ask your loved one/ones if they'd like a boiled egg. Then place this in front of them. You won't be able to tell the difference between her eggs and yours. She puts the tiniest hole in the bottom of her eggs, takes out the yolk & white and fills it with yummy chocolate!!! I've done it and it was hilarious. Sully Party
