Welcome to Grow 2 CEO

GIY (Grow it Yourself) have teamed up with Cully & Sully, one of Ireland’s biggest food business success stories to create the GROW 2 CEO campaign to foster a spirit of food entrepreneurship in Irish secondary schools.

We want students to replicate the Cully & Sully success story by using their class grown food to create a recipe, name it, and pitch it to us as a food business of the future. The competition will take place over 6 weeks and comprise of 4 challenges.

To Enter:

To enter you need to register your class for a grow kit. We will send you out a free growing kit on before the 23rd of March with everything you need including, seeds, pots, soil and plenty of growing tips from GIY.

The Competition:

Once you receive your kit it’s as easy as 1,2,3:
  • Step 1: Divide your class into teams of 2. (Your kit has enough for up to 15 teams to take part)
  • Step 2: Plant your seeds!
  • Step 3:  Complete the challenges!

The Prizes:

There will be one overall prize of €5000 which consists of a €3000 vegetable garden for the winning school, 2 iPADs for the winning students, and an overnight stay in Ballymaloe House for the winning teacher.

The Challenges

Students are to replicate the Cully & Sully success story by using their class grown rocket to create a soup recipe. The 5 most impressive teams will come down to GROW HQ in Waterford in May to represent their class to pitch their idea.

To win the grand prize your teams need to show us their progress, complete the 4 weekly challenges and show us their #GROW2CEO story.

The growing season will run from 9th April to May 18th 2017. The students will have two weeks to upload the first challenge, this gives them a chance to get the seeds planted and become familiar with the challenges, we recommend that the students read through the guidelines for each of the four challenges in the first week.

The students will also have two weeks for the final challenge as this will involve a good deal of preparation.
